The 10 Most Annoying Women's Health Issues and How to Fix Them

Ladies, you know about your significant health issues -- breast cancer, osteoporosis, heart disease -- but what about the smaller, everyday health problems? You know, the ones that are relatively common but don't cause doing concern. Between juggling your job, family commitments, social life and any of the other thousand things on your plate, it seems like an unnecessary chore to try to get in to see your doctor for something that’s minor. So what’s a busy woman to do about a problem that’s only mildly annoying? If you’re plagued by any of these 10 common health issues, consider giving these expert-recommended fast fixes a shot.

1 PMS
If you find yourself getting particularly weepy (well, more crying than normal) during those ASPCA animal shelter commercials at a particular time of the month, blame it on good ol’ PMS. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (as reported by womenshealth.gov in 2014), it’s estimated that 85 percent of menstruating women have at least one PMS symptom as part of their monthly cycle. These symptoms can include acne, tender breasts, bloating or upset stomach, headaches, food cravings, mood swings, anxiety, depression, trouble sleeping or tiredness. Yeah, being a woman is a real treat. But there are a few “quick fixes” you can do to lessen these symptoms. According to Alison M. Leong, M.D., “To combat PMS naturally, try decreasing your sugar, salt, caffeine and alcohol intake.” Holding off on these can also help cramps if you additionally suffer from those. “Increase your exercise, calcium and vitamin B to help boost your mood and reduce PMS symptoms like depression and anxiety,” she says.

2 MENSTRUAL CRAMPS
Whether you call it “a visit from Aunt Flo” or “Shark Week,” getting your period is no picnic, and menstrual cramps are one of the most common health issues that women face. To calm cramps quickly, opt for an anti-inflammatory that reduces muscle pain. Alison M. Leong, M.D., says, “Try over-the-counter pain relievers like Motrin, Aleve or Midol.” It sounds simple, but she insists these can be quite effective. Couple some OTC painkillers with a heating pad or hot-water bottle on the areas that are the most painful. After all, cramps are caused by contracting muscles in your uterus, so treating PMS cramps like you would sore muscles from a workout makes sense. If you prefer a more natural approach, Susan Lark, M.D., author of “Dr. Susan’s Solutions says: “Sit on a comfortable carpet or pillow with the soles of your bare feet touching each other, then use your thumbs to firmly massage your arches for at least three minutes.” She explains - “This acupressure technique helps stimulate the release of endorphins, which are powerful painkilling hormones.” Note that if you regularly experience crippling pain, you should see your doctor or gynecologist to rule out conditions like endometriosis or fibroids.

3 COLD SORES
Ah, the evil cold sore! One minute, you’re rocking your favorite red lipstick for a happy hour or a hot date. The next, you discover that you’ve got a pus-filled blister living on your lip. Is it too late to cancel? While cold sores can pop up out of nowhere, they’re caused by the herpes simplex virus. According to research, about 90 percent of people get at least one cold sore in their life. If you’re no stranger to cold sores and usually get one due to physical or mental stress or the hormone imbalance that can be caused by your period, you don’t have to go into hibernation just yet. Healthcare professional Dr. Jenny Tylee suggests this home remedy on Disabled World: “To heal a cold sore fast, try taking 1,000 milligrams to 3,000 milligrams of lysine in capsule supplements during an outbreak. Or you can eat high-lysine foods like meats and dairy products. And applying ice as soon as you feel that first tingle or itch will greatly reduce or delay the cold sore.”
Standardized Turmeric Root powder is also an effective antiinflammation supplement which knocks down everyday environmental pollutants causing aging and body inflammation.

4 VAGINAL ITCHING
Ah, your delicate lady-flower. On a typical day, it’s an entirely balanced ecosystem of microorganisms. But at times stress, hormones, antibiotics, soaps or other influences can upset the equilibrium and cause a characteristic female problem that’s downright unbearable. Instead of discreetly rubbing your privates in a desperate attempt to scratch that itch away, Dr. Leong suggests this quick fix: “Just run into your nearby drugstore and pick up Monistat or Vagisil.” She adds, “You can also try a vinegar-and-water douche, or you can make your own using two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and a cup of warm filtered water.” However, if the itching continues, it could be a sign of something more serious, so you should make an appointment with your doctor.

5 WATER RETENTION
Birth-control pills. Hormone imbalances. High blood pressure. Pregnancy. All of these things can cause women to retain water and feel kind of puffy. Unfortunately, many women experience the evils of water retention with no relief other than layering on some Spanx to suck in all the liquid girth. However, there are a couple of fast, simple ways you can prevent or reduce your body’s urge to hold on to excess fluid. “One of the quickest, easiest things you can do,” says Alison M. Leong, M.D., “is drinking a diuretic tea, such as green tea or dandelion leaf tea.” She adds, “If you’re prone to water retention around the time of your period, be sure to watch your salt cravings.”

6 STOMACHES AND CONSTIPATION
When you’re stressed out, worried or anxious, does it feel like there’s a thick rope of knots in your stomach? If so, you’re not alone. Gastroenterologist and founder of the Digestive Centre for Women in Washington, D.C., Dr. Robynne Chutkan explains to the Daily Mail that women have a longer colon than men, which makes them more apt to have intestinal problems like stomachaches, constipation and bloating. She tells Health magazine that stress is a common cause of stomachaches and suggests this acupressure trick to release feel-good endorphins and help you relax: “For five minutes gently apply pressure in a circular motion with your fingers to the area that’s four finger-widths above your navel.” Also, she says that a fast 10-minute walk can help get things moving.

7 PAINFUL INTERCOURSE
Women dig doin’ it. But there are times when it’s less “yes, yes, oh God, YES!” and more “OUCH!” This can put a damper on your sex life. If you’re a woman who’s experiencing painful intercourse and you don’t have endometriosis (a condition in which the tissue that lines the uterus starts growing in other areas), Alison M. Leong, M.D., says that maybe your issue is simply a lack of lubrication. Her fast fix? Hit up the lube aisle at your local drugstore. Leong says, “You can use K-Y Jelly or other water-soluble lubricants and see if that makes things feel less painful and more pleasurable.” One small bottle of lube could be the magical game changer you need.

8 BLISTERS
Rocking a new pair of heels can make you feel like a vixen on wheels. But when it comes to breaking them in, it can be a struggle just to make it to lunchtime without limping like a wounded deer. According to experts at Reader’s Digest, putting a bandage on a heel can rub as you go, making the pain feel worse. Instead, they suggest, “Put a gauze square over the actual sore, then cover your heel with a wide strip of duct tape and you’ll be back on the road.”

9 INSOMNIA
There’s nothing better than getting a restful night’s sleep, but, sadly, according to a National Sleep Foundation’s Sleep in America poll of all adults, this is a distant dream for many women. In fact, women are more likely than men to have difficulty falling and staying asleep. So besides downing ZzzQuil in the middle of the night and risking feeling groggy in the morning, what’s a sleepy lady to do in a pinch? Well, often, we lie awake because we can’t shut off our brains. If this is the case, psychologist Dr. Ellen Hendriksen writes in QuickandDirtyTips.com, “If you can’t stop thinking about your to-do list, write it out. Or get up and do something nonstimulating, such as filling out a crossword or reading a book (the paper kind). Avoid your laptop, tablet or smartphone. The blue light emitted from the screen suppresses melatonin, the hormone that helps sleep.”

10 SCARS
You’ve probably heard inspirational quotes about how you should be proud of your scars. That’s fine and all -- unless you want to hide them because the less-than-noble story behind them involves a steak knife or your fickle cat. If you’re dead set on helping your scar heal, heed this quick fix from Prevention magazine: “Contrary to popular belief, scabbing is not ideal. Instead, keep it moist with petroleum jelly and a bandage for three to five days. Overnight, put cellophane tape over the jelly. The tape keeps water trapped in the skin better than breathable bandages, encouraging healthy collagen growth.”

6 Side Effects Of Sleeping With Mouth  Open

Have you woken up at night often feeling your mouth is dry as a desert? This could be because you are breathing through your mouth while sleeping with your mouth open. Nasal congestion is one of the primary reasons for breathing through your mouth and the other reasons could be a deviated septum, nasal polyps, sleep apnea, enlarged tonsils or adenoids.
Normal nasal breathing moistens the air and traps the foreign particles, allowing humidified air to enter the lungs. But, in the case of mouth breathing, dry air enters your lungs giving rise to various issues. Mentioned below are the side effects of sleeping with your mouth open.

Side Effects Of Sleeping With Mouth Open

1. Halitosis
Commonly known as bad breath, halitosis is an unpleasant condition for both you and the people around you. Breathing through the mouth causes dryness, reducing the level of saliva secretion. Saliva contains enzymes that kill the bacteria and keep your mouth wet, avoiding bad breath. Lack of the same doesn’t just let the bacteria enter your system but hampers your oral health.

2. Tooth Decay And Gingivitis
Saliva, apart from keeping the bacteria at bay, also protects the enamel of the teeth. And, as mentioned previously, breathing through the mouth reduces saliva secretion. Decreased concentration of salivary enzymes causes erosion of the enamel, resulting in cavity and decay.
The bacteria also attack the gums, leading to an infection called gingivitis. When left untreated, gingivitis could cause the separation of the gums from the teeth.

3. Asthma
If you already have asthma, sleeping with mouth open aggravates your symptoms. This is because the air is not filtered like in the nasal cavity and the probability of inhaling potent allergens like pollen or dust is increased. The already hampered airways swell and in severe cases lead to an asthma attack.

4. Abnormal Swallowing
You are more likely to make an extra effort by thrusting your tongue forward to swallow rather than closing your mouth when the mouth is dry. This extra effort doesn’t just cause fatigue but also makes you swallow more air. This leads to further issues like gastritis and acid reflux.

5. Snoring
Sleeping with mouth open causes your soft palate (the back of the roof of the mouth) and uvula (the fleshy extension projecting downward the palate) to vibrate. This results in snoring. Snoring further leads to other complications like obstructive sleep apnea, which is a serious health condition.

6. Throat Infection
Breathing through the mouth not only dries up your mouth but also dries up your throat. Getting up with a sore throat often might be an indication that you are sleeping with your mouth open. The unfiltered air is again to blame for, as it causes severe throat infections due to allergens or bacteria.

It is good to not prolong consulting with your doctor if you observe yourself or your loved ones sleeping with the mouth open. Children, especially, face severe abnormalities like facial deformities and poor growth if they continue to mouth breathe. Thus, adequate medical help is mandatory.

TURMERIC FIGHTS INFLAMMATION: HERE’S HOW MUCH YOU SHOULD TAKE AND HOW OFTEN FOR BEST RESULTS

Turmeric is one of the world’s most popular natural spices. It has been widely used for culinary purposes, in the cosmetics industry, as well for medicinal purposes.
It is loaded with numerous compounds that are beneficial for the body. Curcumin is its active component. Here are some of its health benefits:
§  It has anticancer properties
§  Anti-inflammatory properties
§  Alleviates arthritis pain
§  Stabilises diabetes
§  Combats depression
§  lowers the risk of heart attack
§  anti-allergies properties

Turmeric for Inflammation
There are two forms of inflammation:
1.  Acute inflammation – It starts after an injury occurs, and can rapidly escalate.
2.  Chronic inflammation – It’s persistent and can last for several months or even years.
Inflammation can disrupt your health in some ways. It is known to cause asthma, obesity, cancer, arthritis, heart disease, etc. These complications are primarily associated with chronic inflammation.
The Difference between Whole Turmeric and Supplements:

The most significant difference between turmeric and its supplements is that curcumin is commonly available in larger doses in the supplement form. Namely, a teaspoon of turmeric powder will give you only 15mg of curcumin whereas as a supplement will provide 500mg of the same.

YOUR BODY IS ACIDIC. HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED  TO DO (THE REAL TRUTH BEHIND CANCER THAT  YOU WILL NEVER HEAR FROM YOUR DOCTOR)

According to Dr Otto H Warburg, a Nobel Prize Winner, what causes cancer is high oxygen deficiency in the body.  If the body is oxygen deficient, the organism in the body become acidic hence encouraging the development of cancer cells.

He found out that cancer cells are anaerobic, meaning they cannot thrive on high levels of oxygen or alkaline body.

There’s a rule that “All normal cells have a need for oxygen, but cancer cells can live without oxygen. Rob a cell 35% of its oxygen for 48 hours and it may become cancerous.”

What we eat determines the pH levels in our body, keeping the pH levels balanced. This is the balance of acid and alkaline in all cells and fluids in our bodies.

For survival, your body requires a balance of a slightly alkaline level of 7.365.  Americans diet consists of unhealthy, toxic and acid-forming foods like GMOs, refined grains and processed sugars.  This leads to morbid acidic pH levels.

Imbalanced pH levels will interrupt the activities of cells and the functions in your body.  With an acidic PH, you can develop a variety of illnesses, from osteoporosis heartburn, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and diabetes.  It also accelerates aging if left for a long period.

In his book “The pH Miracle”, Robert O. Young notes that the major cause of several health problems is the acidity in our body.  Bad bacteria, viruses, parasites and candida overgrowth that make us ill thrive in acidic environments but die immediately when the environment is alkaline.

For you to remain healthy, the most important thing you have to do is to keep your body alkalized and pH levels balanced.

This is one simple recipe to help you do just that:

1/3 tsp. baking soda

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice or organic apple cider vinegar

Put the two ingredients in a bowl and wait for it to start fizzing.

Add more baking soda until the fizzing stops.

Then pour the mixture into a glass of water.

This should be taken as soon as it is prepared. Drink all of it at once.  The improvements will be noticeable immediately, particularly if you have stomach acid and acidosis.

This wonderful recipe creates an alkaline environment in your body and neutralises the pH levels.

7 Surprising Health Benefits of Crying

We’ve all cried at some point or the other, for one reason or the other. Loss of a loved one, break-up with your love, or an emotional movie sequence have all made us shed tears. In fact, it is the first emotion that we, as babies, learn to express. As a child, crying is a way to seek attention and getting things to go our way. But as children, boys and girls cry without any suppression. Although both men and women cry when overwhelmed by emotions, it is easier for women to shed tears when compared with men. Men have certain inhibitions in crying for reasons best known to them. Here, we look at the health benefits of crying.

1. Expels Toxins.

Crying not only cleanses our mind of negative emotions but also cleanses our body. Tears allow our body to flush out chemicals that increase cortisol, the stress hormone. Just as other exocrine processes, like exhaling, urinating, and sweating, toxins are released from the body when we cry. Along with the toxins, the negative emotions are also expelled.

2. Destroys Germs.

Crying can also kill harmful bacteria. Tears contain lysozyme, which can kill almost 95 percent of all germs in just 5-10 minutes. Tears have strong anti-microbial powers that can protect against the intentional contamination of anthrax. Lysozyme can kill certain types of bacteria by destroying the bacterialeyesight cell walls.

3. Improves Eyesight.

Tears, produced by the lacrimal gland, is capable of clearing up our vision by lubricating the eyeballs and eyelids. When the membranes of the eyes are dehydrated, our vision becomes slightly blurred. Tears cleanse the surface of the eye, keeps it moist, and washes away dust and debris. Crying also prevents the various mucous membranes from dehydrating.

4. Elevates Mood.

Crying improves our mood and helps us to get rid of any sad feelings. Crying can be self-soothing and elevate mood better than any anti-depressant. Over time, due to suppression of emotions, feelings of sadness and grief are bottled up within us and require an outlet. Crying provides this much-needed outlet. People with anxiety or mood disorders may not always experience the positive effects of crying.

5. Alleviates Stress.

Crying provides us with a feeling of relief, even if the situation does not change. Crying releases stress hormones or toxins from the body, and thereby reduces tension. Bottling up negative emotions can lead to physical health conditions like headaches or high blood pressure. Crying is a safe and effective way to deal with stress, as it enables an emotional release of accumulated negative feelings, stresses, and frustrations.

6. Strengthens Communication.

Actions speak louder than words. So, crying is a more effective way of explaining how sad you feel than using words to express your sadness. In a relationship, an argument may continue until one of them breaks down, signalling that they cannot take it anymore. That puts an end to an argument, usually.

7. Reduces Manganese.

Crying also reduces the manganese level from our body. Manganese is a mineral that affects mood and is found in almost 30 times greater concentration in tears than in blood serum.
Be it a child or an adult, crying can do wonders for us. Just as laughter can bring out the positiveness from within us, crying can help throw out negativity from within us. It’s a great way to get rid of toxins and cleanse our body. So, the next time, you feel the urge to cry, don’t feel shy.
