4 Myths about dieting that actually make you gain #weight

Myth #1: As long as you’re eating healthy foods, it doesn’t matter how many calories you consume.
Busted: Not necessarily. White rice or even brown rice, whole-wheat pasta, etc. has the same amount of calories as “regular.” Avocados, nuts and olive oil deliver heart-healthy fats, but they also have a significant number of calories. The benefits of red wine and dark chocolate are well known, but obviously, it is not advisable to indulge every day, as they are likely to make you gain weight.
So, it is a good idea to keep a tab on some calories you consume.
Myth #2: You Can Lose 10 kgs in two weeks.
Busted: You probably can! But the fact is it is an unhealthy way to lose weight. Moreover, it is not sustainable, and you will find the kilos you lost returning once you start to stop dieting.
Myth #3: Eating small portions throughout the day will help increase metabolism.
Busted: Some people do find that eating smaller, frequent meals and snacks helps to control their appetite, but modifying your food intake in this way won't increase your metabolism, at least not significantly enough to make a difference. For some people, eating more often may mean eating more. What you are “grazing on” matters too. For instance, if you are snacking on high-fat, high-calorie foods at periodic intervals, it will actually make you gain weight.
Myth #4: Eating late in the evening will cause you to gain weight.
Busted: It's not true that food consumed later in the evening will just sit there, unused, and automatically get converted into fat. You will gain weight if your total daily energy intake exceeds your energy expenditure, regardless of the timing of consuming these calories. Eating late at night, however, especially large meals, can cause digestive problems and that's why it's not recommended.
